| - We were trying several orthodontists to see where we would be the most comfortable, both with the office staff/doctors and also scheduling and location-wise. We tried this office because it was close and had good Yelp reviews.
I cannot remember the original phone experience except to say they were able to get us in as a new consult rather quickly and had convenient times. When we got there, just before school break, the office was nice and clean/neat and well-decorated for the upcoming holiday.
They took us to a room after filling out papers and asking my child to brush teeth with a disposable toothbrush, and we waited for the doctor to come in. Meanwhile, the gal that helped us was chatting and getting paperwork ready. So far, so good, all very pleasant.
Then came the weirdness. Dr came in, looked at the xrays with us, explained that they had you tube videos about it but this is what we need to do. Get my child into braces immediately, as this is what is happening with his teeth and here is how braces can help (and they had a little video about it). The Dr was very very smiley...like, a little too smiley, if you get what I mean.
After he left, the gal who had stayed in the room the whole time went into our pricing options with us. They had a nice payment plan to go along with our portion of the price after insurance paid, and we would get a discount if we started the very next week on break -- a "school break discount"! I felt rushed and wanted to talk it over with the hubs, so I said I would call back.
I called back a couple days later to tell them no thank you at this time, we did not want to proceed. She then asked us if they could follow up with us in 6 mos and I said sure. We started getting emails about their patient activities (sounds fine) but then we got an email in 4 mos time telling us it was time for scheduling our appt soon. I then tried unsuccessfully to unsubscribe to all emails (3 times now) and also emailed them and told them they were very pushy and if they couldn't add 6 or perhaps were thinking I was confused and didn't remember when 6 mos would be, then I was right to be creeped out when we were there on the consult.
We have since found an honest orthodontist who said that with my child's bone structure, if we were to do braces now, we may have to repeat them again after puberty, so may be best to just monitor and wait for a while.
2 stars for nice office and for ease of getting an appt. I do not believe this office has families' best interest in mind. My opinion, stay away.
