What a complete disappointment this past weekend in Charlotte. First off I couldn't get the air conditioner to cool consistently. That's not a good starting point for a hotel in the peak southern summer.
I then went to plug my cell phone by the bed and there were no plugs on the lamp. Clearly an issue since the previous guests had unplugged the lamp already to create a makeshift charging station. A hotel in 2016 should be stocked with accessible plugs and really USB ports, especially near the bed and desk but not this Westin. The lampshade was also broken and cracked on the inside. Our shower also had black and pinkish mildew...heavenly indeed!
The internet wasn't free and bottled water was $3.95 in the room. The only plus is that parking was gratis.
The absolute worst part of the entire stay, however, came the next morning when our neighbors dog started barking at 6AM. This lovely pooch, actually two pooches I believe, kept barking off and on for over three hours. After finally getting up to see if they were in the hall (as they were so loud) I got the room number and called the front desk. They were going to send up security, who knows maybe to have a talk with them, but they just kept barking. I was going to discuss all of this with the front desk upon checkout but the line was 10 people deep so I dropped by keys in express checkout and bolted.
So the hotel didn't live up to a 4 star rating in any way shape or form. It wasn't comfortable, restful, nor any form of heavenly.
