| - I will give my full story and review.
I am not from the area, and The area that I'm from had the best medical care I have experienced. It was Overlake Hospital and also the Overlake clinic in the Seattle Washington area. The care there is above average so potentially my review could be biased.
I have suffered from severe insomnia for about two years. The average fix for people like melatonin, turning your electronics off, Zzz quil, diet change, implementing more exercise and sleepy teas did nothing for me. I'm very informed about insomnia and things to try and help, but unfortunately nothing whatever work for me. In the state of Washington, marijuana was legal and was my solution for about a year and a half. Since the state of Arizona doesn't have this legalized, I did stop upon moving here which really kick started my insomnia again.
With this back information now shared, I will get into my review.
Upon my phone call and making appointment I was already hesitant because the scheduling process felt complicated. Every time I was suggest a time I was only told that it wouldn't work instead of being advised times that would work. When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted by a very friendly woman and I filled out my necessary paperwork for first-time visit. So far, experience was fine. Receptionist that day was good. However, once I was greeted by my RN and escorted back to the room I was asked when the last time I had a physical was. I stated it had been over a year but that I was in maybe two times for just colds within that timeframe. I was very surprised they did not advise me to have a physical or do other things like check my weight (I informed I had lost about 20lbs within a year just randomly), and all the other procedure typically done prior to seeing doctor.
About five minutes later I was seen by the doctor and I began reviewing the information that I stated above to her about my move, my recent job change and coming off marijuana for insomnia. I did not feel she was listening to me while I articulated my issues and literally she only stated the obvious that I can't sleep because I have marijuana withdraws (please keep in mind I informed I had not used this for over a month.) she immediately recommended I take ambien and sent me on my way. I struggled very hard to come off marijuana which again I stated to her, and I felt it was not a proper suggestion to put me on an even more powerful, and addictive substance. I accepted the prescription however since at that time I was desperate to receive sleep. Overall, between the time I was seen by the RN to the time I left after speaking with my doctor, I was there maybe 10 minutes, 15 maximum. It felt like they were rushed.
I called about a week later to have a follow up since I was having to increase my dosage amount to three pills per night just to fall asleep. Ambien, three pills... That's how bad my insomnia is. I also have very bad stomach problems including IBS and this medication was constipating me.. Since I was taking three pills, I could see why. I googled side effects and constipation was a side effect of taking Ambien. Upon my visit and speaking with her again about my issues and informing how much I was increasing with my dosage, all she did was prescribe me a heavier milligram for the pills. Basically, she was just suggesting I keep taking drugs for my insomnia instead of really looking into what the underlying issue is. Ambien if you do not know is very hard on your body and causes a lot of negative side effects. I am now personally weaning myself off without the help of my doctor because I understand this and want what's best for my well-being. Even when I told her I had IBS and that I wasn't having proper bowel movements, she just kept telling me that drinking magnesium citrate was my best option or other laxatives- really wasn't even taking into consideration that I have IBS (lax with IBS can cause other symptoms ) and it didn't seem like she was wanting to help me much with the IBS situation.
Now the icing on the cake with this visit was while I was discussing with her how I was having to take with the Ambien every night, her cell phone started ringing. While I'm discussing the serious matter with her, she literally just tells me "excuse me", and walks out of the room.... Seriously ? If it's an emergency call I understand, but there are so many other ways to be respectful and leave the room then just saying excuse me, not make eye contact and just walked out.
This was Dr. Mohan I saw and I Will not be returning. I'm so disappointed w my visit.
