| - I saw Dr. Nunley and his staff for approximately 1 year. The first crown and fillings went really well. I started having problems after the second crown (yes, I required a lot of dental work!). It fell out (no big deal) and he put it back in but even after that it never felt right (side note: he didn't initially do a root canal which shortly became necessary and then he acted like he was doing me a huge favor by not charging me for the second crown. Nothing horrible just annoying). One of the assistants worked for a while to adjust the uncomfortable crown. I finally left thinking that I just needed to get used to the new material in my mouth. He also did some deep fillings to replace old, metal fillings. After the fillings and the crown, which were on the same side, I had pain that didn't dissipate. When I told Dr. Nunley, he brushed it off and told me to wait another month to see if the pain went away. After this and a few concerning billing practices (over charging by quite a bit 100-200 each time and then delays in issuing credits), I got a second opinion. Long story short - the crown that causes pain is a terrible fit and the gap is the source of discomfort in that tooth. It will have to be replaced, which is quite expensive. In one of the fillings, he likely nicked a nerve which has been the source of pain in another tooth. Basically, I'm paying for a second round of work that wasn't done properly. Additionally, the office wasn't straightforward about the material they used for the crowns. I should've asked more detailed questions and done better research but I didn't and now I know! To be fair, his office did call to check on me when after the appointment at which I informed him of the pain but by that point I had decided to seek a second opinion. Also, his staff was apologetic for the billing errors. Finally, Christine, the hygienist I saw, was competent and pleasant. I think the lab Dr. Nunley uses for crowns is probably a big part of the problem I had, but I didn't appreciate being brushed off after so many visits to correct my issue. I think the office is fine for cleanings and routine care but for other work, I'd recommend checking out another office.
Last thing, on two occasions, he commented on my dark hair and blue eyes being a beautiful combination that reminded him of an old girlfriend. Not really what I want my dentist to be focused on and not sure why he felt it was okay to make those comments.
