We booked our trip to Cuba this past February through what is now a Transat Travel agency at Sherway Gardens. Our agent we have known for years and had great service from the whole office but since the takeover to a Transat office things have changed a fair bit. When we found the hotel/flight time we wanted the agent had to get permission from Transat Holidays to match prices with competing tour operators. The resort and departure times were identical but Transat Holidays were hundreds more per person. Fortunately through online booking I was aware that others were offering the same trip for alot less and my agent went ahead and had to get permission to match the price. In essence Transat really hopes the passenger does not check to see if they are price gouging!! But the real problem with Transat is that you get absolutely ZERO extra for that additional money... NADDA... They just pocket it. On top of that you would think the flight would be at least a step up given the price difference. NOPE.
When we got onto the plane everyone was seated and ready, no ice or weather issues, BUT Air Transat staff had neglected to collect a certain paper they needed before they could allow the plane to take off. So here we sat for over half an hour because they couldn't get their act together. This wasn't mechanical or weather issues but simple ineptitude. Don't they do this for a living. How do you forget to file the necessary papers. They were pretty reluctant to admit it was their error and of course made no effort to compensate. Other than the usual tepid apology they offered no explanation. As for seating and comfort. You get virtually nothing on the flight that you don't have to pay for. Maybe a pop and water. That's it. And if you paid the extra amount compared to the other carriers you certainly would not be a happy camper. Super tight seating ...no wonder people want off that plane as fast as possible. Could they make these seats any smaller? I do not recommend either Transat Holidays or Air Transat for any short commercial flights or holidays. Sub standard service at inflated prices.
You might want to avoid that. Too bad I cannot give it a zero.
