  • I finally got around to stopping by this Cleveland institution on the way back from a Greek church festival in North Royalton. I also stopped at the Rocky River metroparks dock location recently. I had the honey pecan and mint chocolate chip flavors, which both tasted excellent. I'd love to try the orange blossom flavor next. I realize people are very regional-centric and love to defend their turf, and even overrate their favorite foods. Honey Hut falls into this category. Yes, their ice cream is real good, but is it really the best in all of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio? To me, it's on the same level as Mitchell's (which I like too), but not nearly as good as some of the more 'high-end' gourmet ice cream shops in Tremont. And certainly not as good as some of the incredible specialty ice cream stores i've been to along the Jersey Shore or in Miami. It's really hard to truly be #1 in any category, but Honey Hut makes damn good quality ice cream that everyone can enjoy. You have to, if you've been around for 43 years!
