| - I've been to this shelter twice. I had to laugh after reading the negative reviews on here. I couldn't agree more. This place is a joke and they contribute to the problem of homeless pets. I went there to look for a cat for my boyfriend, and I found a beautiful bengal cat. The crazy ginger woman who works there was rude and weird, and she said that since we didn't have any experience with the breed, we were not allowed to take that animal. I have two children and I think I can take care of a cat if I can take care of kids. My boyfriend went alone to try to get the cat the next day, and he lives in an apartment. When they found that out, they actually called his apartment management office to see what their rules for having pets was. They said that animals had to be declawed, so they would not let him take the cat. We would not have declawed the cat, and the apartment managers do not search your apartment looking for animals to make sure you are in compliance. It was ridiculous. Later on, my boyfriend went to a breeder and got a Bengal cat. After a few months, he found another Bengal that was in sun valley shelter and he decided to go down and look at her, because he wanted another bengal. This time they could not say he didn't have experience with the breed, but the crazy woman with the long red hair still tried to do everything she could to not let him take the cat. At this point, we had bought a house, and she looked online and because it still said that the house was bank owned, she told him he could not take the cat. Well, at that point the shelter manager was called, and the manager said, he has another bengal, he has a house, let him take the cat. So he did, and they are in our home happy as can be. Also, the cat's fur looks a lot better and her disposition is better here than it was in the shelter. I don't know what is wrong with these people, but it seems like they think that the animals are better off in a shelter than with caring owners. When my bf was there, he watched the shelter staff deny a family a dog, and the three children were there with them. On the flipside, this cat- hoarding old woman came in and she said she already had 11 cats and they gave her a cat with no problem. The staff is heartless, rude, and discriminating. I hope this place gets shut down and I hope everyone looks at the reviews on here and goes someplace else. I went to the animal control shelter on Friday August 31 in Casa Grande and I got the kitten of my choice for 75$. The people there were happy to see a cat go to a good home and they were not crazy like the people at Sun Valley. I still get mad when I think about our experience there.
