Concord Mills opened as an outlet mall / entertainment complex. The latter still can still be said about the mall but the outlets, like those across America, are dying off. There's only a few stores in the mall that I would consider real outlets.
For entertainment options, there is a NASCAR speedpark, a Dave and Busters, AMC Theatres which all get quite busy.
There are some interesting stores...Cool and Eclectic is a neat shop that recently opened, Auntie Anne's pretzels has 2 locations in the mall and the mall even has a Starbucks for those people who need their regular caffeine jolt.
Like any mall there are stores selling clothes, shoes, and a large food court with your standard food court options.
For people who live in the area, the best times to come are during the week when it is usually dead and you can usually get in and out with out getting trampled on, yelled at and runover by someone pushing a stroller. The best place to park is on the backside at the entrance to VF Factory Outlet. There's hardly any cars here.
