It has been years since I stayed at the Rio. Last time I was here they had the bronze statue of the naked showgirls in the lobby. The hotel has changed since then. My boyfriend and I ended up at the Rio after planning a last minute trip to Vegas. There were so many events going on that this was the closet hotel still available near the strip.
The hotel itself is okay but nothing fantastic. The casino area was well kept but very empty. Doesn't seem like this hotel gets too crowded. On a positive note they did have a free shuttle that would drop you off at Harrah's or Bally's which are right on the strip.
Our room was clean but there were some things that needed to be fixed. Our shower head for example was loose and halfway detached from the wall.
Also in my opinion this hotel lacked restaurants. They had a bunch of buffets but nothing that was a quick and tasty bite. We did end up eating breakfast at one of the restaurants and it was pretty disappointing.
Overall the Rio wasn't great but it also wasn't bad. If we needed to stay here again I wouldn't mind it but I would first try to book a room elsewhere.
