  • When we first visited Madison in 1995 we stopped here with our then 9 year old daughter. It was a good time. The decor was charming and the ice cream we'd remembered was rich, creamy and generous. So 20 years later and as a lark, my wife and I dropped in again. To cut to the chase, I ordered a hot fudge sundae and my wife a strawberry soda. The ice cream was flavorless , granular with ice crystals and certainly less than generous, not that that was a bad thing. I had a ribbon of fudge around the periphery of the glass, a puff of cream and done. No nuts, no cherry but $6.50. I wondered why the menu said extra hot fudge, .95 cents. Now I know. I asked my wife about hers. Same flavorless ice cream, no real strawberries but what to me tasted like strawberry ester. So basically icy granular ice cream , a shot of pink chemical and some soda water. When asked by our waitress how we liked it I described it as flavorless. "I'll inform the manager" was her response. Judging from the myriad complaints about the food going back awhile here on Yelp, it seems the complaints are falling on deaf ears. I thought being robbed with a pistol wielding person is the more likely scenario in life than one using a soda glass. Go at your own risk. It's your money. It's Kopp's or Leon's for us.
