I was meeting a group here for a lunch date. My friend was visiting from out of town, making a trip from Chicago to the Wausau area. She wanted to keep close to the Interstate and she picked this location in McFarland, for her pit stop. I didn't know what to expect as I haven't explored this side of Dane County much.
The interior had a look of being refurbished. It looked nice. There was a dining area, bar, and a big party room. The bathrooms are very nicely remodeled (maybe a little dark and with a TV ) but very clean and modern.
The menu is extensive. We started with the cheese curds. They were a solid B+ on the cheese curd scale. You got your choice of Blue Cheese or Ranch Dressing. It was a good portion for the cost.
I ordered the Sloppy Joe sandwich on a pretzel bun. It was made with meat from short ribs so it was pull apart tender; which made for a great sandwich. The BBQ sauce was good and light so you could actually taste the meat. In lieu of fries, I swapped in a side salad. It was a big side salad full of green leaf lettuce, cucumbers, and other fresh ingredients.
The other folks in my group ordered a burger, a reuben, and the daily special which was a open face prime rib sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy over everything. We all got quiet for a bit so I'm assuming they all were happy with their choices too.
The serving staff was friendly and attentive. She even humored us by taking our group picture. So I would come here again if I found myself in this neck of Dane County.
