  • My wife had a friend visiting from out of town so last night we decided to go out to eat at Brio. My wife had eaten there once several years ago and my wife had purchased some Brio gift cards at Costco. We were very disappointed in the food. For a fancy restaurant we expected a lot better. I ordered the Chicken Milanese, which is basically Chicken Parmesan. The chicken is sliced very thin and then breaded and fried until it is quite tough. It's probably over-fried. 3 weeks ago I had a root canal with a permanent crown attached 10 days ago. I was seriously scared that chewing this chicken would knock my crown off. My wife got the Balsamic Braised Short Rib. She liked her meal and because she liked it, this rating is 2 stars and not 1 star. My wife's friend got one of the pasta dishes. I'm not sure which one. But much of the pasta was all stuck together. into a solid lump. She only ate part of the meal. She complained to the waiter who told her that that's how the pasta should be because the sauce forces the pasta to stick together. But after he cleared the plates, we could see the waiter showing the plate of pasta to someone from the kitchen. Soon the manager came out to our table explaining that the pasta was over-cooked and offering to get her more pasta. She declined as we had already finished our meal and had been in the restaurant an hour and a half by that point. The manager wasn't offering to bring her the same dish prepared right, but just some more pasta. Like she wants to eat some pasta by itself. The manager said he'd give us a discount on our bill for the bad pasta dish. When we got the bill, it was an insult... a $3 discount on a $79 bill. When something bad is served and the manager admits it was prepared wrong, it should have a greater discount. With this insult, it would have been more respectful to have not offered any discount and just let us believe the quality of the food is bad. Now we know the quality of the food is bad and the manager is disrespectful. And I didn't even mention how bad my Chicken Milanese was. But my wife was happy with her meal and one thing I've learned in my marriage is if my wife is happy, then I'm happy.
