I first encountered halal guys on a trip to New York. It was around $6 or $7 and the portion was huge, the food was piping hot. I actually stumbled upon this place by accident in Montreal thinking it was very similar, now I understand things in Canada can be bit more expensive and I fully expected it to be priced a bit more.
Now to the food... I was utterly disappointed, the meat was cold and they gave me a tiny bit of rice with 2 molten pita breads and a salad. The meat tasted so bland and the rice didn't taste right. The only thing was fresh was the salad. This is for a whopping $11. I ended up throwing it out. Trust me I wouldn't eat from here even if they gave it to me for free.
For the real experience make a trip to New York City and goto the cart on 53rd street, trust me you won't be disappointed.
