Much like Jon Snow I know nothing about Korean food. Nothing. But one fateful night the man and I were watching MasterChef and on came a challenge to make a bibimbap. At the end of the episode we decided we had to find this sizzling crispy rice dish in Charlotte and Yelp led us to an unlikely establishment - China Wing.
China Wing is housed in a building that was a fast food establishment in a former life across from a Compare Foods Supermarket. The first time we went we were more than a little dubious. However the food we've had both times has been absolutely delicious and worth the journey!
My absolute favorite dish here is the dolsot bibimbap which comes packed with vegetables and served with various sides. The beef is surprisingly flavorful. The whole dish is served in a solid bowl and still sizzling when it comes to the table, crisping the rice on the bottom while you take the obligatory snap / insta / Yelp picture. Normally I can take or leave kimchee but here it was delicious. The waitress was super friendly both times we went and she was more than happy to answer our many questions and make recommendations.
Even though I don't know anything about Korean food I can say the food here is amazing and I can't wait to go back and venture even further into their menu.
PS - I have a song dedicated to this place. Set to the same beat as "MMMbop" I sing it on the drive over. It goes biiiimbap um um bibimbap bibibibibimbapppp.
