| - As somebody without a car, this store seems very out of the way. I've lived in Pittsburgh many years and have just finally made a trip out there to check it out. I guess this place is good for anybody living in the suburbs north of Pittsburgh, or travel on Mcknight Rd. regularly.
The location of the store does not hinder my rating much. It's in a small shopping plaza right off of the main road and has plenty of parking available, which is great if you plan on stocking up.
Like most of the other Asian stores in and around Pittsburgh, they have a pretty good selection of products, including noodles, snacks, frozen foods, and beverages. Though they carry most of the same brands you will find at any other Asian market, I feel that the variety of items/flavors under each brand may be a little better.
They do carry product, but compared to Lotus, Many More, and others, their produce is very poor. There was only a small selection of fruit and vegetables and they were not the best quality.
Oriental Market includes a meat section in the back of the store. The meat seemed to be decent quality and contained your normal pork, chicken, and beef, but also some extra parts you do not normally see in most meat shops. One that stuck out to me was the pork intestine, which I have not been able to find at any other Asian store in Pittsburgh.
They layout of the store is very open. It is easy to navigate between aisles and doesn't seem very busy. The shelves are all well organized and items neatly separated with little wooden barriers, so it is very easy to check the right price for the item you are looking at.
Checkout was quick and staff friendly. I don't think I'll be going out of my way to visit Oriental Market, but if I happen to find myself in that area with some time to kill, I might go in and browse their inventory and possibly pick up a few small items.
