| - This was our second time here, and I am so glad I waited to form an opinion on this place. We were here for dinner on the 4th with our good friend Todd, and had a wonderful meal! The first time around it was kind of ho-hum, but I think it was more a matter if ambiance than food. See, the BF and I are not loud-bar-raucous-crowd types of people. We're more like to stare-lovingly-into-each-other's-eyes-while-sharing-one-drink-with-two-big-straws type of people. But the first time there, it was later in the evening, with the music pumping and lots of college aged people. So the morale is, if your old(ish) and boring choose when you go wisely, and you will have a lovely time!
The first time I tried one of their grilled cheese and BF had a cheeseburger. Both were good, although I found the grilled bread kind of...sharp? I guess that's the right word. However the fries were really good and the homemade tomato soup is out of this world.
This time we started with the pub pretzels which I thought were going to be boring, but turned out pretty good. I had a hamburger- the basic Yard burger, the BF had the Buffalo burger and Todd had the pulled pork sandwich. Everything was delicious! As I said, mine was basic but done well. Cooked well, juicy, on a great bun; a really good hamburger. Todd was pretty darn impressed with his BBQ, but, for me, the star of the show was the Buffalo burger. I never thought I'd like buffalo, but it was really, really good! I almost can't wait to go back so I can have one myself. The have a few style fries, regular, old bay and a couple others. All the fries are hand cut and very good. Although I'm a fry junky so....
Both times, the service was good. OBV, the service was unbelievable this time around, as we were one of like 4 tables in the whole place, but even the first time, when our waitress was running around like crazy, the service was good. Overall, I was very happy and can't wait to go back (for a super early, 5:30pm old person dinner, but, whatever!)
