I first started coming to this vet when I moved into the area approximately four years ago.
Conan my German Shepard was the first patient. He always had the same vet. I do not recall her name off the top of my head. She was knowledgable and kind.
I then received an adopted cat from a no kill shelter. I brought his to SVAH to be checked out and again had the same wonderful vet.
Another cat that I had rescued from the streets would become another patient and the same awesome vet checked her out.
When it came time to put my dog down, we went to SVAH and our now regular vet was their ease Conan's suffering and at last give him peace. Her bedside manner made a not so easy situation tolerable.
As time would go on, I moved out of the area to the other side of Hendo.
Out of loyalty and past experience, when one of my animals would get sick, I would pack them up in their travel box and make the drive to SVAH. Not an easy task I assure you.
One my most recent trip while coming through the door and signing in, I was immediately hit with the up sale. Do you want this shot? Do you want fecal matter testing? Do you want this test?
Driving for 35 minutes with stressed out cats does not put one in the mood to even think about such things. Let me see the vet and then we can decide.
So I am waiting in the exam room and in comes the "cat whisperer" lady who then takes my cat into the back for tests. This always makes me nervous but I trust they are doing what they need to do.
My cat returns to me and we await the vet.
In comes the vet. I have never seen the guy before and before we down with it, he cracks a gum bubble with out intro and without a hand shake.
I am a handshake and intro kind of guy and this disturbed me.
He then went on with it could be this and it could be that but I need to do this to be sure. I felt like I was at a car dealership in their service department.
I let him talk me into an eye stain but said let's hold off on everything that is not essential for the actual treatment.
So my cat goes back in the box. I pay for the service and the medication. Off I went with a screaming cat on the 35 minute drive back.
God forbid another one of the cats gets sick but if they do I am going some place closer to my residence and hopefully more professional.
