Michael's Frozen custard is outrageously expensive, so much so that I think they are losing clientele (myself included).
I've been going to Michael's for 15+ years for ice cream. However, it has become so expensive I think yesterday's visit was my last unless they lower their prices.
A medium chocolate malt costs almost $7! And their 'medium' size is what I would consider a small at any other ice cream venue. If you take into consideration the cost of their food and below average customer service along with the fact that the place itself isn't very clean it doesn't all add up.
If Michael's became more affordable, cleaned up their restaurants and shored up their customer service it would gain more customers. I was there yesterday evening, it was a beautiful warm night out and there were practically no customers. I had a hot fudge sundae with bananas that had a strange aftertaste about half way through, it seemed like the bananas were cut on a surface that wasn't clean and hence my sundae tasted like the remnant food that was originally prepared on that surface. I couldn't even finish it. Oniony aftertaste in a $6 sundae? No thank you.
Michael's has potential but they need to make some updates and changes to their business to keep it afloat.
