I have been a cccu member since 1999. My favorite part about the credit union is that the they do not ridiculous fees.
From what I know they have a couple basic ways you can have your account set up.
I have used the electronic account and it has served me well. I can do almost anything at the ATM. They also have everything you could need to manage your account on the website including ALL of your copies of cashed checks for free. The only downside of the electronic only account is that you pay $5 if you need a live person's assistance or $.25 per check if you use those. I live mostly off my debit card and have our income direct deposit so it works great for us.
You can also choose the alternative setup where you have unlimited involvement with the teller (person inside) and use checks unlimited for free. Then you would only pay a fee when you use your debit card or use electronic services like the ATM.
A few years back I also consolidated all of my credit cards and refinanced my car loan into one payment with a signature loan. It was all done in one day and was a very easy process.
