  • My kids bought me a gift card for Salon Estique for Mother's Day. It was close to home which was a plus. I have been looking for a regular nail salon since we moved from the east valley, my son found this place had great reviews. I scheduled a pedicure online. It was easy. In the notes section requested an earlier day that was not on an option on the calendar. It looks like their online scheduler schedules two days out regardless of their actual appointments. If you want something sooner, I'd recommend calling. A human replied to my request within an hour and offered me an appointment for the next day. I was very happy they could accommodate me- all through email. Their suite is light and bright. It has a great feel even amongst the construction in the bleak, old strip plaza. There's open stations with happy faces getting haircuts, fresh color and new styles. There's a sincere and friendly receptionist offering ice cold refreshments. The music is quietly playing something lively. But nowhere did I see nail stations...? In general the place had a great feel to it. I didn't wait more than 5 minutes for my appointment. Meanwhile, I perused the nice selection of Bumble & Bumble products and beautiful handmade jewelry. My nail technician introduced herself, offered me a beverage then led me to a hallway in the back of the building. There was a large overstuffed faux leather chair in the middle of the hallway with a small foot bath bubbling on the floor. The foot bath reminded me of an upgraded version of the ones they sell at big box stores around the Holidays. I was asked to pick a color - from their rather limited selection of choices. About 20 colors. I settled on a peacock green color. The foot bath was surprisingly nice. She left me to soak for a bit and came back to give me a very mediocre pedicure. The results were very equivalent to something I could have done at home. Sadly. I was really hoping for a much better experience. Truly. It's close to my work and home. I wanted this place to be my "go-to" place for nails. I was very unimpressed with the afterthought of nail salon that was shoved into the back hallway. The result: My feet didn't feel moisturized and refreshed like they usually do after a pedicure. They felt dry and sticky. I was actually afraid to walk outside as I was fearful the dust in the parking lot would stick to my feet. Oh and it did! Gross. My nail technician hurried me out of the chair. She didn't even allow time for my nails to dry. So before I even left the building I had smudges on my polish. My heels felt smooth for a day - but not moisturized at all. By the next day my feet were rough and dry more so than before. Pretty equivalent to my home pedicures- meh- I could have done it myself for free and I have twice the selection of nail polish. Usually I can have nice soft feet for at least two weeks after a pedicure at my usual place in Ahwatukee. Not this one. Dry as soon as I left (and sticky)- the next day my rough calluses were back. A week later my heels look really bad. They actually hurt to walk on them. The polish is still on but its smudgy in places. Bottom line from my experience, this place is NOT a nail salon. If I had hair that could be cut and styled (I have dreads) I'd give them a try for hair services. I have $35 left on my gift card but I will let my son use it for a haircut. I won't be back for nail services. My feet hurt from the cracking and calluses never again.
