| - My poor rating is not for the driver or ride experience I received, which was great. It is for Uber's customer service not honoring a first time ride incentive of a $20 discount. I was approached by Uber representatives at an event and signed up for Uber's app. I tried Uber for the first time and attempted to redeem the promo credit for this into discount. The driver was great and timely. I paid the driver and received a receipt, but it was for full fare. I reached out by email as no phone was available to Uber to inquire if this fare would be adjusted to honor the credit. The customer service rep stated that there was suspicious activity on my account and they held the right to revoke any promotion or discount. I absolutely acknowledge that Uber, or any other company, likely has issues of people manipulating incentives or discounts. In fact, I did have some initial trouble booking my ride, but absolutely did not abuse or manipulate this offer. My challenge is that the customer service rep from Uber would not explore the situation further. She absolutely had no evidence that I did something improper, because it did not happen. As a first time customer experience, I honestly have not had a poorer customer service exchange in decades where the issue immediately was dead and the company was unwilling to explore things further. I would value an opportunity to discuss this further with you.
6/20/14 - I wanted to offer an update that I was able to resolve the above issue satisfactorily and Uber did honor the intro discount. Again, to be clear, my overall experience with Uber was good. It was solely the misunderstanding and initial handling by a single customer service rep that is the basis of this post.
