If it's not one thing, it's another with San Marin. I recently had my car washed, came home and parked in my assigned spot. The next morning I observed paint specks on my car that were obviously left there by maintenance doing touch up painting around the carport. I brought it to apartment management attention, they took some pictures, then never got back to me. The agent that took the pictures even acknowledged that maintenance had been doing touch ups around the carport. A few days later I spoke to a another rental agent who told me the apartment management is not responsible for ANY damage to tenant property. She added that if I didn't actually see the paint getting on my car, they weren't responsible.
It's almost like living in an alternate universe that defies all logic. The apartment manager was basically saying that if they weren't caught red handed, it didn't happen. In other words, if I could not prove it with a witness, they didn't see a problem. They obviously think so little of their tenants that they would rather take no responsibility for damage that was clearly their fault. Because they weren't caught doing it, they have little interest in doing the right thing.
If you have options on where to live, I would stay away from San Marin. These people have little moral compass and are not likely to have your back when something goes wrong.
