  • Craig Ranch Regional Park was built on the land where Craig Ranch Golf Course used to be. I'm so glad this area was saved from being developed into apartments or another strip mall with the same stuff in it we don't need. The park is around 170 acres and offers a bit of something for everyone of all ages. I could have very easily given 5 stars when the park first opened, but the bird shit is starting to pile up around the park just like it has been for years over at Aliante Nature Discovery aka Dinosaur Park, bummer! They have 3 fenced dog parks for small, medium and large dogs. Enter at your own risk means just that, so if you are bringing your dog to an enclosed area where you have no idea if the other dogs are even vaccinated and then complain about your dog getting bit or sick, blame yourself! There is an older couple that I see most mornings in the fenced area for smaller dogs and they let their small white dog do its business while they sit on the bench and chit chat never going over to clean it up and only get up to leash the dog to walk to the car and leave when they are ready to go. It's amazing me that they think nobody else sees this or they just seriously do not care. My dog is used to being outdoors and not being fenced in, so she much more prefers exploring all around the park over being in that area anyway and they have trash cans around the park for when you do need to clean up after your fur kid. There is a community garden which I'm always for. Sadly here it's just so expensive compared to other cities. Here the raised garden beds are 5' x 13' and will cost you $150 a year which includes water. Other cities I've been to only charge about $50 per year including water and there is an option to donate some or all of your harvest to local food banks which I sure wish I noticed more actively here in Vegas. The community garden here used to be open all of the time, but people were going in and stealing so now it's usually locked and you have to contact someone (there is usually a sign posted with contact info on the gate) just to tend to your plot. Sad. Very sad. The 65,000 square foot skate park is pretty much always the most crowded area even during the week. The amphitheater is 7 acres and I've been to a couple of events there and everything was thought out and set up well. Some weekends there are food trucks around the park and a taco guy that sets his stuff up near the big windmill. The volleyball nets have sprayers on the top which is refreshing during the summer. Around the park there are different play areas that even I as an adult found fun! They actually have swings at this park and play structures for different ages. The slides made of cement seemed like a fun idea, but it can hurt going down and it's hot on the skin in the summer which I personally found out lol. I noticed they have a splash pad however it wasn't working, hopefully that gets fixed. Here they have covered pavillions that are not only nice and spacious, but the bbq grills are huge. Basketball courts, competition baseball fields and even tennis are also options here.
