| - This review is based on overall pleasantness of shopping experience, relative to prices. Longo's is not the place to go for saving on your food bill, even when you consider their weekly flyer specials - they're almost always more expensive than other places, even on supposed sale items.
Having said that - this was definitely a pleasant shopping experience in exchange for the higher prices.
The store is well laid out, especially the produce section. The labels are impressively easy to read, and include a very visible price per unit cost. I was easily able to determine that I was better off just buying a few loose lemons rather than resorting to a bundled bag of them to save money.
And what beautiful lemons they were! Longo's produce really is top notch stuff, premium goods for the premium price. If I had the luxury of not having to care about what I spend on bills, I'd be a regular.
Even the signage at the cash is carefully conceived. It's not just visible, I have to give kudos to a grocery store where the Express checkout says, About 8 Items. Omg I had to laugh, clever buggers, had to appreciate that.
The cashier dutifully asks about the reward card, no thanks is no thanks, and they include bags without surcharge for the otherwise premium prices.
Totally pleasant experience. I dream of the day I can afford to be a usual customer.
