  • What a complete goat rodeo. So, you can buy your tickets online, and then it gives you your choice of delivery. I chose etickets via passbook. Awesome, no printing or wasting paper, can't leave them behind, they are tucked nicely away on my phone. Fast forward a week later. We get to the station. Park. Wait on the train with 4 kids all 5 years old or under. Wait in line. Get on the train. The "conductor" which is a volunteer, comes around to quite literally "punch your tickets." I whip out the ole etickets I got from their website directly into my passbook and we get put off the train because they FREAKING REQUIRE PAPER TICKETS!!! How stupid can an organization be that they offer etickets, but don't take them, nor make mention that they don't take them anywhere on their website. So you can only enter and exit through a couple cars and when they seat you, they make you go as far forward as you can to be seated. So we had to fight our way with 4 kids all the way back through the other cars, while people were still trying to find seats, and get off the train to go to the ticket office. There they printed me some tickets and told me that the reason they can't take etickets yet is because they had their website redone and when they did that, they put in the functionality for them but they had no idea how to accept them once they put it in. I can't think of a more ignorant business decision. So now we had to rush and get back on the train, try to find coach seats close to each other so we could help with all the kids, but were forced to sit crossways from each other and irritate some strangers with young ones. They then take our paper tickets and punch a round hole in them, how stupid, why couldn't you just look at the one on my phone? There is really no verification of tickets here, you could just print out copies of one ticket for coach and get seated just fine. They scan nothing, they check it against no list. The train cars are old and not very clean. I didn't realize it until we got off the train 3 hours later that our train car had a malfunctioning air conditioner. It was quite warm in our car and we assumed that they were all like that, but as we left we noticed that the other cars we walked through were much colder. You can bring snacks and small coolers with you so you don't have to buy from the food car which I wouldn't recommend. I also don't recommend this for young kids. It's quite slow and boring and has a lot of stops. We enjoyed it, besides the ticket fiasco, and the park was nice and scenic, but we would have enjoyed it more if we left the kids at home. Not enough for them to do or stay entertained.
