  • Oh, where to begin? We were spending a few days in Las Vegas and wanted to enjoy a fancy dinner and show out without our 2 year old daughter. So we turned to trusty Yelp, and picked Love & Care Sitters, owned and operated by Anahi Alvarez Romo. We filled out the online contact form 2 months before our scheduled date and Anahi emailed us promptly to confirm the appointment. Two months later, we arrive in Las Vegas. The day of our big date night arrives, and we have prepaid for a tasting menu at E (over $600) and purchased Cirque de Soleil tickets ($300). Anahi was supposed to arrive at 4:45pm so we could make our 5:30 reservation across the Strip at E. By 4:45pm, she hadn't arrived so I called her. She seemed to have completely forgotten about our babysitting arrangement. In her effort to make things right, she said she would leave her house right then and be there in "5 minutes". I said I would meet her at the lobby and escort her to our suite. I was skeptical about her arrival time because when can you get anywhere on the Strip in 5 minutes? But I was hopeful because the thought of us missing out on these reservations hadn't entered my mind. You probably know where this story is headed. Not only did she not arrive 5 minutes later, but at 5:15pm, she called me and said she had parked in the employee parking lot at our hotel and that she was a 10 minute walk from the lobby (which is another 10 minutes away from our room). Factoring in traffic, we were going to be over 30 minutes to our dinner reservation. I told Anahi to forget it and to go home because there was no way we would make our dinner reservation. I called the restaurant and begged for them to reschedule us to a later seating (no, been booked for months) or to another night (no, booked for weeks) or allow us to bring our toddler (no kids allowed). The meal was pre-paid and non-refundable and we missed it due to Anahi's lack of professionalism and gross incompetence. I cried all my makeup off and then...the phone rang. The restaurant was extremely apologetic for all the inconvenience that Anahi caused and offered to host us at their child-friendly sister restaurant, Jaleo, later that evening. And the fantastic team at the Cirque du Soleil box office at the Wynn allowed us to reschedule our tickets to another day. In the end, the restaurant totally saved the day. I remembered to write this review today as I got an email from Anahi, the owner of Love & Care Sitters, this morning telling me she looked forward to our babysitting job this afternoon. One month after the actual date we had booked. Would you want someone like this watching your precious child? Not me. Her lack of attention to detail is astounding as is her lack of follow through and communication skills. I highly recommend you find another babysitting service while you are in the Vegas area.
