This is about as much of a 4-Star hotel as a double-wide in Gastonia. It's tired and needs a major overhaul. Staff included!!! Check-In desk boy was very unknowledgeable about parking and snarky that I parked in the deck that said Omni Self Parking. Told me I parked in the wrong deck and that I must move my car, that I was in an hourly lot and it would be significantly more than their valet-only deck at $22 a night, so I dropped my bags in my room and went to move my car. On my way out of the deck, that again has a huge painted sign saying "Welcome to the Omni," the rate is a $20 maximum rate for 24 hours. So I re-parked and went back to my room to wash my face and find a place for dinner. Since the escalator was broken, you have to use the same elevator bank to that "wrong" parking deck to get to street level and walk anywhere. Once in my room, I had to run the water for 5 minutes for the rust to clear from the pipes. While waiting I noticed the large chunk of concrete missing from the ceiling where they've chipped a hole to add conduit for Wi-Fi. Clearly this place is resting on its laurels. The only saving grace is I booked last minute on Priceline for half their quoted rate. It was probably worth the $109 I paid, but I certainly wouldn't ever pay the $217 quoted on their website for booking. The ONLY redeeming amenity is the complimentary use of the Charlotte Athletic Club. Unlike the hotel, they have a knowledgeable and very friendly staff. I chalk that up to $20 of the value of the hotel room so it's worth about $89 a night to stay here.
