| - Location: This was an "okay" hotel in a great, central location. We were able to walk to every touristy location (Chinatown, Kensington, CN Tower, Waterfront) without having to drive anywhere- a blessing in a large, unfamiliar city with many one-way streets!
Hotel/Staff: The staff was friendly and courteous, and even obliged to take pictures of our group of friends when we asked. They offered to answer any questions we had about the city, and even offered to make recommendations. The hotel itself has a very ornately decorated lobby. The rooms are very outdated, and I was nervous about taking off my shoes because the carpets seemed filthy. The good news is, the linens were clean and crisp, which is the most important! If you enjoy fancy dim sum, there is a Chinese restaurant that gets great reviews right in the hotel.
Parking: One downside of the hotel is that when we arrived, the valet informed us that they had no more parking spaces available. We were very irritated by this, because we did not want to do street parking in an unfamiliar city. The valet recommended the garage across the street, but it had limited enter/exit hours (and our rental SUV could not fit safely under the 6 ft. mark). Thankfully, there is a large, open parking lot right next to the hotel. This is what many of the "overflow" guests were told to do. We were nervous about parking there, but it turned out to be fine. Be aware that even though it says it charges every 24 hours, the 24 hours does not start from the time of parking. It counts per day, so even though we parked from Sunday evening to Tuesday morning (less than 48 hours), we were charged for part-day Sunday, full day Monday, and full day Tuesday. It was fine though, because it turned out to be the same price as valet directly from the hotel.
The next time we visit TO, I'll probably look for another hotel in the same area. However, I wouldn't mind staying here again if I found a good deal.
