While the current state of this country is in question I am amazed when I go to an establishment that I continue to be a patron at and get treated as a second-class citizen. Sure I am Hispanic but the over 4,000 a month that comes to Marriott from this Hispanic name seems to be taken like every other dollar you receive. You don't get 50 cents on the dollar you get a whole dollar. So why is it okay for your Front Desk Manager - Mike at the Renaissance in Cleveland to act like Marriott has received 50 cents on that dollar. I arrived at the hotel and while there were rooms that were not next to the elevator and fit my profile on Marriott none of these were acknowledged. Once I got to my room it was obvious the staff took little care in the cleaning and there was a Q-tip with a large amount of ear wax on it. When I brought this to the attention of the Front Desk Manager he acted like I was not telling him the truth. As someone that has used Marriott as my second home in all of my travels over the last 90 days, I was astonished. Really I am trying to help you and you are accusing me of not being honest. Of course, the white couple in front of me at the desk that had an issue was treated very differently. I will say Tierra at the front desk was amazing. She treated me like someone that was a fully human and equal to everyone at your hotel. The General Manager at this hotel needs to get a grip and if you are not going to treat American Citizens equally then state that before they book a room. Honestly, this is wrong in so many ways and I will think about how I give busines to your chain. I am currently keeping a room at one of your hotels and will be doing so at this point for 6 more months and that will likely extend as my client has a number of very large projects. I will be thinking about this experience where you are receiving money for not one but two rooms in one night because of a last-minute travel need and to be treated like this is more than appalling. So being at your highest status and Hispanic means you don't get upgraded, treated with disrespect? That says to me my money is better at a hotel chain that treats all guests with the same respect.
