SAVE YOUR TIME....AND MONEY.
I have never posted on Yelp before but I feel compelled to relay my experience at this supposed fine dining restaurant.
I took my girlfriend to La Cave on New Year's Eve. When making the reservation they failed to inform me it was prix fixe dinner for that evening. We enjoy tapas and had heard good things about this restaurant and were looking forward to sampling many different things.
The prix fixe was "4 courses". The first course was two small (remember this is a tapas place) servings of foie gras (did I mention I don't even like foie gras?), the second course was pork belly, again two small servings. Evidently pork belly is very fatty, it was only a few bites to begin with but I had to cut away about 50% of it in fat. Our "main course" was ONE SCALLOP (I kid you not) and a very small (two or three bites) serving of sea bass....WTH?? The dessert was a brownie!!
I have lived in Vegas for 18 years and have been to many of the five star restaurants in our city. I have NEVER had such a lame meal at a "fine dining" establishment. We felt ambushed by their prix fixe menu, and it was too late to find another eating establishment (believe me we tried as soon as we sat down but it was New Year's Eve and every other place at the Wynn was either booked or there was at least an hour wait).
Did I mention the cost? A few bites of foie gras, a few bites of pork belly, ONE scallop and a few bites of sea bass and a brownie. I had one glass of wine, my girlfriend did not drink. Our bill with tip was $270 bucks!!! $95 per person + my glass of wine. I have been to Aureole at Mandalay Bay for less money!
It is absolutely shameful. We will not be back and will tell everyone else (and the Yelp community) to stay away from this rip off restaurant.
01/07/16 UPDATE
Evidently we were not the only customers displeased with the New Year's Eve prix fixe dinner. I received a phone call from the General Manager apologizing for our experience and inviting us back to give them another try. I must admit, I do find it telling that the GM would take the time to personally call each customer who took issue with the menu and pricing that evening. In my view that speaks volumes as to the integrity of the restaurant and management who obviously care about their clients and reputation. We have decided we will give them another chance and perhaps this will be a much better (and typical?) experience.
