  • Food is great, service is lacking. I've been going to Roast every now and then over the past few years, and I've come to terms with the fact that their service is very hit or miss. I was super bummed on my last visit - a friend and I were there for brunch, and the only people in the restaurant. Our waiter was friendly, but didn't write down either of our food orders. Usually I don't mind this, but once he got to entering them in a few minutes later, he had to call over and ask my friend which of the scrambles she ordered. And when our food was brought out, I noticed immediately that I did not get what I ordered. I felt bad saying anything because I didn't want to make them rush to remake something, and I didn't want to make my friend wait to eat, so I just ate what he brought. But that was really disappointing. At least my friend got the right scramble! If their service was just a little better I think I would definitely visit Roast more often, because I really do like their food! They seem to have changed up their menu quite a bit over the past year or so -- they used to have mainly sandwiches where they were split up on the menu by the type of meat they were made with -- beef, pork, and poultry. Now they've moved to less sandwich options but other options, like bowls and salads. Thankfully they kept those Sweet Potato Fries on there -- because wow those are up there among my favorite sweet potato fries ever (DLUX has good ones as well)!! They're more shaped like traditional chips, flatter and just a bit wider, and when you get the chipotle ranch on the side... oh man they are SO GOOD! I like how at Roast you can switch up your order and turn a sandwich into a wrap or vice versa! I really liked doing that with items on their old menu, but a lot of those items are sadly gone. However I'm eager to try some of the new menu items, like the Pigs Fly and Supper Club bowls and the Guacamelt. I know I'll be returning to Roast (and ordering sweet potato fries, obviously), but with a little more hesitance now due to their unreliable/inconsistent service.
