  • I would rate this zero stars but that's not an option. We were told a 20 minute wait Friday evening, it was 46minutes. While waiting we stood at the bar and watched the barmaid that had a permanent scowl on her face. Once seated our waitress took our drink order (waters) and said she would be right back. At that time the restaurant was half empty. She instead went to the terminal and entered past tickets for over 10 minutes. She came back to the table, apologized for the delay and said, "oops, I forgot your waters". Several minutes later she returned to take our orders. I ordered the pretzel chicken, she said, "I think we might be outta that", so I ordered something else. My husband ordered the steak fajitas. Even though she apologized many times for the fact that she kept us waiting on drinks and order taking, instead of putting our order in immediately she went to her 3 other tables and chit chatted. Then it took over 20 additional minutes to receive our food. Two waiters brought steak fajitas to the table that were literally cold, no sizzle, completely cold to the touch. The mashed potatoes that my chicken was on had a film on them from sitting in the window too long and were cold. We then didn't touch the food and asked for the manager. After waiting an additional 10 minutes with no one coming to the table we left. The manager finally rushed out to catch us and when we explained our experience all he could say was, "I don't know what is wrong with that girl." We then found ourselves sticking up for our waitress saying it wasn't all her fault. If anything manager Kevin and all the managers and owners of this restaurant, it's your fault. If your bar employees seemed pissed to be there, if your wait staff aren't trained on the basics, if your kitchen staff is making half cooked food and your food runners are running fajitas that have zero sizzle and are obviously cold, then management has failed. Manager Kevin did offer to email us a certificate to come back, AFTER my husband asked for his name, but it's not necessary, we have zero plans to ever waste time on Rock Bottom again. It was our first restaurant when we moved to Charlotte many years ago and we typically like to go when we are in the city but each time it has gotten worse and worse. We won't be back. Side note: We were starving when we finally left Rock Bottom at 10:16pm after all of that and went across the street to Duckworths. Their fajitas came out sizzling, my food was great, the waiter was friendly and on top of it. Thank goodness our evening wasn't a total waste.
