  • In order to find Thelma's Filipino Restaurant, you would have to turn right from Sunset Road, drive all the way to the back of the building, and it's facing directly toward Sunset Station Hotel Casino. The restaurant looks clean and spacious. They have pretty floral décor on every table. And when you dine-in, you can watch TFC which is The Filipino Channel for music, show time, and entertainment. They have an extensive menu that includes a selection of meat entrees for pork, beef, chicken, seafood, and they offer soup, noodles, mixed plate, vegetable, and a few of the more popular Filipino desserts like Halo Halo and Banana Lumpia. I ordered Tocino Chicken ($9.99) which is sweet marinated boneless chicken thighs, and also requested Garlic Rice ($1.75). The Tocino Chicken came with slices of raw onions. The meat portion is plentiful and the food looks savory and appetizing, however the chicken itself taste rather chewy. I'm under the impression the chicken is boneless, but I end up biting into some surprising bones found in the meat. And that does not taste good. Now the Garlic Rice taste okay, it is so light that you can hardly taste any garlic. Honestly, I prefer if they added a little more garlic to actually put flavor in the rice. When you eat raw onions with Tocino Chicken, you get a crunchy, chewy texture and a strong unappealing taste. As for beverages they have a soda fountain. And the lemon water is free, you can get unlimited refills. Primarily what is disappointing is the service. The person who place my order is not friendly or welcoming. When I walk into the restaurant, the person just stared. I end up greeting the person "hello." The place is empty and I feel awkward dining in. I really want to enjoy the food, but I just didn't feel any good vibe about this restaurant.
