| - I have a love/hate relationship with the ubiquitous Wal-Mart. On the one hand, the place is a mecca of endless products made in the other side of the planet. And the prices are usually decent. HOWEVER, be prepared to find incompetence galore, lousy customer service (there are a few exceptions), and next to no checkout lines open! In addition, I have found many many checkout errors (on my receipt) where I was overcharged during my many visits there over the years! The 'Supercenter' (with supermarket) is great, BUT why did they get rid of the 'Garden Center'? This was a bad move on their part! My most recent bad experience there was recent. I wanted to simply purchase a large, heavy bag of gardening soil that they have stacked outside, and when it was time to pay, 2 checkout ladies had NO idea what I was talking about! They went down a list of outdoor items they had in a 3-ring notebook, trying to guess the price and identity of the item (this took at least a few minutes, while the line was quickly getting long, with seething, mean looking, obese tattooed customers making faces and grunting behind me)! You would think this is 1945 all over again given their lack of proper, modern product I.D. and checkout procedures! What is so hard about having UPC TAGS on some of the heavy outdoor sidewalk items, that the customer can grab to bring to the checkout line to be rung up for?! Wal-Mart truly needs to bring their customer service and efficiency 'up to date', or they will keep losing customers to the far superior TARGET stores! WAKE UP WAL-MART!
