  • Duquesne Incline is a must do when in PGH. The views are the best the city has to offer, there is a lot of history, and it's a really cool experience. Stunning and breathtaking views on the observation are well worth the $5 fee round trip. That being said, if it were not for the payment process to get on the train itself, I would give this review 5 stars, but the payment is a HASSLE! First of all, it's $2.50 each way, per person, which is more than reasonable, BUT they only accept cash and it must be EXACT CHANGE, which is absurd. The two women manning the payment booth when I went were extremely rude and very unhelpful when we got there. We almost were unable to ride, but luckily my daughter had cash on her. If I were the city, I would take steps to install a credit card machine, or at the very least, an ATM at the bottom of the incline. Pro Tips: 1. Make sure to bring EXACT CHANGE if you want to ride. Otherwise the two witches in the booth won't let you on (even though the ATM is at the top, go figure) 2. Try to go up around sunset if possible, although any time of day will give you amazing views of the city. 3. Take some time to read through the historical information about the city once you reach the top. A lot of great and cool history.
