I was extremely disappointed in my stay at the Royal York. It needs to be completely renovated to keep it up todate let alone functional.
I booked a regular room and when I walked in, found that it was not in keeping with the Fairmont standards. The table had a leg broken so that the tabletop was at a 45degree angle. Closet door was broken and off its track. The walls looked like they had water damage with huge bubbles under the wallpaper. The tub tap had been leaking for some time and had rust marks down the wall and the sides of the tub. The toilet looked like one in a public washroom.
I valeted my car, and had a few awkward packages for work that I needed to carry in. Car entrance and lobby are not close in approximity and there was no one there offering to help. The desk person was nice but really slow.
The reason I even gave it a 1 out of 5 is because the bed was comfortable and I at least received a good nights sleep.
