| - I've been to two Jaleo restaurants previously (one in Washington, DC and the other in the DC-area nearby in Crystal City, VA). I had loved my previous experiences but my experience at Jaleo in Las Vegas (located in the Cosmopolitan hotel) fell short of my expectations. The food was mediocre and REALLY not worth the prices charged...
I visited by myself during lunch before my friends arrived at the hotel for my friend's bachelorette party weekend. I decided to get a nice meal and a drink to while away the time, since I got there extremely early (yay for flying in from the East Coast!). I ordered a berry cocktail, which was nice, but a bit watered down and not worth the $16 it cost.
I went with their lunch special, which was $26 for salad, gazpacho soup, and paella. I was hoping for something substantial, but the food was disappointing. The salad consisted of a few pieces of lettuce with not much sauce or anything special to it. The gazpacho soup was good, but small. And the paella? It took forever to come out (at least 20 minutes) and it was a TINY portion! I was not full leaving the restaurant.
Service was decent (I was one of the only ones there because it was so early), but my server misunderstood me when I said I wanted tap water and brought out a bottle of still water. He was nice when I described the misunderstanding and did not charge me for it - I really appreciated that and reflected my appreciation in the tip.
Overall, though the service was good, I did not enjoy the food. Total rip-off. I would not recommend this restaurant. I will still visit other Jaleo restaurants in the future (in the DC area, where I live), but I would not visit the one in Vegas again.
