These markets are truly a fiesta. No joke! Incredibly bright and festive on the inside, always bustling with people grabbing groceries or some lunch. This is the best chain of Mexican grocery stores in Arizona hands down. The produce here is very inexpensive, and much fresher than what you could ever find at Food City. Part of that is because they're operated by people who actually care about the quality of food that they sell their customers.
But AZ grocery politics aside, this place totally rules. Being a native Californian, I always needed avocados in the house. While Safeway and other stores would sometimes charge an arm and a leg for mediocre avocados, I could almost always count on specials on great Haas' at Ranch Market. This is the best place to stock up on everything your kitchen needs to make traditional Mexican food. Their butchers have the cuts and items that most American stores don't carry (for those of you who are Menudo-minded) and they've got a killer hot deli counter (in the style of a cafeteria).
I've had countless lunches here. I highly recommend their pollo asado, which is grilled right in front of you. They've also got a little counter that sells helados (ice creams) and bebidas (drinks). The melon drink and their horchata are super refreshing. While I still prefer eating at La Tolteca, it's the Ranch Market that wins for actual groceries. And their killer panaderia, too!
