  • I received my first shipment from Winder Farms this past Monday. How exciting! Fresh vegetables and dairy at my door! As an aside: I really hate going grocery shopping. You have no idea. I would actually go without just so I didn't have to go to the store. Fast fooding it made me gain weight and, well, 95% of the time it's gross. Fresh, nutritious food delivery is right up my alley. I was super excited when I met the Winder Farms rep. I wish he would have explained the process a bit better though. Some tips for new (or potential) customers: #1 There is a monthly delivery fee. If you start mid- month this will be prorated and charged to your card before your first shipment. I was very upset because, although this was a small fee, I was unaware that it would be charged and what it was for. It made me nervous enough to change my credit card until I got some answers. (FYI- once you access your account you may change the credit card on file under "My account". You may also my check "My deliveries" for more detailed billing information if your card is charged.) #2 There is an initial set-up fee charged to your account before your first order. If you made a deal with the rep, this is deducted from your first bill. #3 You have agree to purchase 40 deliveries to get the service. #4 The charge for your food is billed to your account on file a day or two after the food is delivered to you. I knew #2 and #3, but #1 and #4 I had to find out on my own. It would have been a much smoother experience had I known all four up front though. Here's a big important #5- You may or may not see all of the coupons you (or your rep) enter(s). I received a code for a free loaf of bread. I entered the code multiple times- and nothing. I called the next day and the rep added the code for me. I looked at my account and there was no bread coupon on the order. I called the next day and sure enough, the coupon could be seen at their end but not mine. I wrote a feedback letter to make Winder Farms aware of this glitch and the coupon is now showing up when I log into my account. The same thing happened for a $7.00 credit on my first order. When I called the second time, the rep told me they had some new tech people on the job, so hopefully it was just a "me" issue, but if it happens to you, keep calm and just give them a call. Oh- #6! Winder Farms says you can leave a phone message regarding updating your delivery after hours. I wouldn't trust that. My order didn't get updated. It wasn't a big deal, but I know not to rely on that method in the future. I called them on a Sunday and left the message around 6 PM. OK- So if you understand and are cool with all that, then by all means, please sign up! I really do think it's a great service. For my first shipment I ordered 5 salads (all excellent), milk (wonderful), a produce box, which is basically random produce that is in season (A+ excellent), orange juice (ok), lemonade ( the bomb), and three pizzas (all with crust like corregated boxes). Winder Farms says if I didn't like something I can call and they would refund it. They gave me $10 off the pizzas to try it. Eh... it was edible. I just won't order that again. On the reviews on their site it gives a low rating for the pizzas. I chose not to listen. Next time I will pay attention to the ratings. I guess we can make that #7. Pay attention to the ratings on the website. My husband said that Winder Farms has made me a better cook. That's not true. I cook exactly the same. I've just been using inferior ingredients from Smiths or Wal-Mart. There is no contest between the milk and produce from Winder Farms. All a much higher quality. They do cost more, but I don't have to go to the store and the quality is exceptional. So far so good with Winder Farms. If anything changes, I promise to let you know.
