If our first visit is any indication of the restaurant in general, it will be a definite no in the future. Combine bad service with mediocre food and you have Dobhan.
It should have been a warning sign when we walked in that half the tables were empty and just dirty (waiting to be cleaned), but we grabbed the only open table left anyway. We had just been shopping and running errands on a Saturday morning and were looking for something for brunch.
We very patiently waited 20 minutes for the 1 waitress to come to our table before requesting service at the counter. When she finally did come, she acted like she was doing us a favor by taking our order for 2 precious minutes.
I ordered the phull dosa and was incredibly disappointed when it came out. The menu listed it as a crispy crepe with eggs, spinach, and manchego cheese. The eggs were fine, but the spinach content was minimal and I refuse to believe that the orange shredded cheese was manchego.
My friend got one of the biryanis and it was pretty good. It seems like their true Nepalese food is tasty compared to some of their Nepalese-American combos.
When attempting to pay the bill, it was another waiting game, which ended in me leaving a flat cash amount for the waitress at the counter. I'm a pretty patient guy and it was a long time.
I would love to give it another try, but the restaurant wasn't even half full when we were there. There's plenty of other places (even some serving the same cuisine) in Madison to waste your time here.
