| - One of the things I was most excited about in moving to Las Vegas was being able to have proper dim sum (served on carts and not from frozen, pre-made stuff). This place came highly recommended by a longtime local so we decided to stop in and try it out. Overall we were pretty disapointed.
So with that in mind, here was our experience. We came in and were seated pretty promptly, and, after a few minutes got some dim sum and some tea. We got some sesame balls, some shu mai, and several diferent steamed dumplings. All of it was really tasty. This cart, which also had desert offerings, then disappeared never to be seen again. After a while another cart came by and we got several more offerings, all of which were also really good. This cart then also vanished for a while, then came back again to offer us some spork buns for a second time (we'd declined them the first time since neither of us are a fan of them) steamed pork buns. Shortly thereafter this cart was restocked and then disappeared to the other end of the restaurant. After about 15 to 20 minutes passed and we'd long since finished our offerings, and the restocked (and only) cart had still not returned, but a passing waitress stopped in to ask if we were ready for the bill. I said no as we were waiting for some more carts to come by and she went off to look for it. Probably another 5-10 minutes passed and finally the cart, which had now been decimated by two tables that came in after the cart had been restocked, returned but all the new stuff that it had been stocked with was gone. We took one item from this cart and then asked for the bill and got out of there.
I get that if you're at the end of your dim sum service you're not going to pump out a bunch of new stuff, but if you're going to continue having the service you should have at least a decent range of things available. Plus, we'd sat there for quite a while without getting any more food and it was obvious that we were looking around to see where the carts were but no one came by for what seemed like an eternity (as I said it was 15-20 minutes). And its not like we had a table full of food during any of that time. Heck its not like we'd had a ton of food or even a normal amount of food up to that point. And no one came by to offer more tea or water either. What was frustrating was that when they restocked that cart, they did it right in front of our table and then zipped away (at this point we had maybe two items on the table), so we got to see what was on there but never got to try any of it. Its too bad because the dim sum that we did have was really quite good, but the selection at this point in the day was extremely lacking. Our friend swears this was unusual, and given that we liked the food we'll probably stop in at some point when its earlier in the service period to try some other offerings, but I'll certainly think twice before doing so (and before sending anyone else over here).
