| - I had two dogs, they each went to different doctors, for different reasons. Each vet practice had their own pros and cons.
Until recently, I had brought my female dog in only for normal checkups/vaccines as she was always very healthy. The doctors and staff were always great and very knowledgeable, easily answering any questions I had. I just would have liked it more if I had the same doctor each time I visited.
The real reason though for a 3 star, vs 4 or 5 star rating is recently, my dog passed away tragically and I was an emotional mess. I understand the staff is used to this and see it daily and are most likely numb to the emotions owners feel at the loss of their fur-baby.
I took my dog, already deceased to Alta Vista and called them to let them know I was in the parking lot and couldn't bring myself to bring a dead animal in through the main lobby. I was in tears, could barely speak, and the employee who answered was nice and all, but very robotic. No sympathy, no asking if I was ok. Just "Ok, I will send someone out, what color is your car? When they get your dog, you'll have some paperwork to fill out in the office. What do you want to do with the body?" and so forth. It was odd and unsettling, especially in such an emotional state. If my hands weren't shaking so bad, and I thought I could handle it, I probably would have driven her to my other dog's vet...
