First time at Sky Harbor. Perhaps a bad day. Free wifi non responsive in C11 or C18 gates (Southwest) nor did paid Boingo Hotspot ( $6.95 for a day) that I purchased in C18 work anywhere else. When I got back to C18 it wouldn't work.
1:25 plane first moved fromC11 to C18 and 30 minute delay. Then we are told plane was diverted back to Tucson apparently due to rain (where I had just driven from) and then would return to Sky Harbor at 4:30 But they are not sure....OK....
Then apparently gate was moved to C17 (I found out by asking several people, but not by gate agent or gate sign) departing *perhaps* 5:00 PM but the gate board STILL says 1:35 ON TIME. I asked gate attendant at C17 if they could fix the gate sign but she says the City of Phoenix has to change the sign -- she has notified them.
So...undoubtedly there are people at the wrong gate, in the wrong line, and even elsewhere in the airport who are going to miss their gate/flight.
Apparently the adjacent gate's Dallas and Denver flights were also delayed and gates were changed but the gate signs dos not reflect the correct city or correct flight time.
The Phoenix airport flight finder is not accurate about the flight changes either.
Gates at end of Southwest are packed with frustrated people. Went as far as D concourse in search of decent affordable food and away from bad vibes. All of them way overpriced and receiving medium to bad reviews only on Yelp.
Ended up returning to in Starbucks in C concourse --decently clean, and food we all are familiar with, so at least there's that. Staff at Starbucks somewhat surly. I don't blame them with constantly screaming child on a leash while mom ignores her texting on her phone. Boingo Hotspot STILL not working nor does free wifi. So I type this review using my precious data minutes. Can I get a refund? :)
Disappointed with service, and especially OUTRAGEOUS food and drink prices. This is not necessary -- other airports do far better.
Gave an extra point for mostly clean attractive airport, fairly clean restrooms, good airport layout, parking options and cell phone lot.
SkyHarbor.com -- Dining page is a joke. No info besides names of restaurants in each concourse.
