| - Our stay for EDC at the El Cortez was a NIGHTMARE. We asked for a room with a refrigerator for my medication that must be kept cold, and it took 12 hours to get cold, almost spoiling my meds. Then upon check in (and not before), we are told we cannot have any visitors unless we pay $25 per person PER DAY, plus $6 in 'taxes and fees' ON THE EXTRA FEE. When we asked why they simply replied, it's EDC so we can. Total garbage considering they spend all of their marketing dollars trying to sucker us millennials and festival goers into staying here, then hook us up with whatever up-charges they can without notification. We are downtown regulars during EDC and have stayed at almost every property on Fremont with no such issues. Then, Sunday afternoon we woke up to a fight breaking out in the hallway. We had to wait on hold for 20 MINUTES to get security and we were afraid to leave our room. We had to call to get towels four times every morning to get anyone to show up. For how much they swindled us in fees we should've been getting the royal treatment, but this was a motor home treatment. THEN, the hotel tried to swindle me out of another $56 by saying we had to pay the up charge Monday night too, even though the festival was well over. If I hadn't called to ask why I was being charged, the manager admitted they would have just taken the money. DO NOT STAY HERE FOR EDC OR LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL UNLESS YOU WANT BIG FEES AND POOR SERVICE. The Golden Gate is only one more block and gives no trouble!
