| - When it comes to juice smoothies, I'm a big Jamba fan. Since graduating college, I've found that it is much harder to come by a Jamba juice because they aren't all over the place like on a college campus. There are several alternatives around town close to me including Juice It Up, so I figure I write a review.
The Jamba's I used to go to were a 5 star establishments, so that being said, most people will find Juice It Up to be between a 3.5 and 4 star experience. The employees here are short with words and some don't even respond to common communicative phrases like "hello" and "thank you", but they serve pretty good smoothies and offer similar boosts (powdered vitamin additives like echinacea and vitamin C) to what you would find at similar juice shops. I really like sucking up small pieces of blended up fruit when I have smoothies, and I don't get as much of that here as I did at Jamba, but that isn't to say that the drink tasted artificial. I most recently had a Seabreeze Something-or-Another and I could distinctly taste the strawberries, raspberries, and juices used.
I didn't have to wait in a line which was cool, but there is something to be said about places that have a long line--they usually have to order fresh food more frequently and they won't keep old fruit sitting out. I daresay Jamba has fresher ingredients.
Overall, this place satisfies my biannual craving for Jamba, so it's worth a shot if you're thirsty and in Tempe Marketplace.
