| - This review is LONG overdue. MY HAIR FELL OUT DUE TO CHEMICAL BURN! Amanda Fuller is the one responsible for the awful destruction that is now left of my hair. Before anyone can say "you did this to yourself", I personally informed Amanda with the list of products/chemicals I had been using BEFORE she touched my head with the major concern of hairloss/damage that could possibly happen and she reassured me before, during, after the process that it would NOT happen.
The dirty details: So I was seeking a top hair salon that with a color specialist that would be comfortable stripping my hair of all toxins for an employment opportunity. I read online of techniques of at home remedies and tried them all. Laundry soap, astringent, charcoal soaps, etc. And the final call was for a stripping agent. Since I am not a professional, I didn't feel comfortable myself to preform this task not knowing if the chemicals prior would react to the chemicals of the stripping agent.
So I called in the pros! Or so I thought...
I spoke with a gentlemen on the phone about my task and specifically requested Amanda due to her coloring experience, I figured she knew what she was doing. He also explained how they would NOT be held responsible for any negative/positive chemical test results. Duh! Of course not, you are responsible for the outcome of my hair, not drug test! I booked my appointment and was excited to be getting some fresh paint.
So, the day of the appnt I did another one of my washes (as suggested from previous experiences) and went in to see Amanda. I sat down and we had a good 10 min consultation on EXACTLY what I had put in my hair just an hour before, WITH THE WORRY OF A CHEMICAL BURN CAUSING MY HAIR TO FALL OUT.
I asked what my options were for stripping the hair and she mentioned a shampoo that works but was worried it may be to harsh and cause significant damage. Okay, no. What else? She claims that bleach would be the best way to strip the hair, although I had mentioned how the website suggests not to bleach because bleach will not penetrate the follicle and access the cortex where the impurities lie. She said phooy, bleach was the way to go! After expressing to her NUMEROUS TIMES before, during after, the next day on how I did NOT want my hair to fall out, she kept telling me not to worry, it will not fall out. Okay but, it FREAKING burned so bad, she simply tells me that it should tingle, but not burn. I told her it felt like fire, and she MOVES ME UNDER THE BLOWDRYER to speed up the process.
At this point, I've told her how inexperienced I am with bleaching and after looking at her overly bleached head, I thought she might just know what the hell she's talking about. WRONG. After I see the out come of the first bleaching process, she suggests that we do ANOTHER process to ensure the blonde will look right. HELL NO. My head felt so tight, I told her it felt like someone with literally pulling the back of my scalp with their hand. She says "ew creepy!"....thanks?
So needless to say, I denied the second bleach job (thank God) and went for a deep auburn with a balayage highlight on top. Color came out amazing, fell in love. Short lived though. After a out a week, 50% of MY HAIR FELL OUT. I KID YOU NOT. I cried like a baby. REGARDLESS of the test results, I would've NEVER EVER EVER EVER had my hair bleached on top of my "washes" had Amanda taken the professional approach and warned me of the severe damage that could possibly happen, rather the take a chance and "wing it" with my hair. I'm not a freaking guinea pig for you to take an pic and post on instagram EXPLAINING in detail the personal reasons behind why I booked my appointment. Classy Amanda. Just what I wanted. I give her points on the color when it first came out, but would strip her of her license for lack of knowledge and professionalism. Just BAD.
The single star is for the owner who was out of town for a week and instead of making me wait the entire week for him to return to see the damages, I sent him before and after photos and explained how I will be seeing a derma, and would need a full refund to cover the expenses. $357 for this awful service I received by Amanda, just really depressing. I thought I would have to buy a wig, but thankfully it stopped falling out. No call from Amanda at any point during this horrible experience to see how my hair and I were after the trauma.
Needless to say, even though you do your research and look,for the best possible solution (in this case, stylist) bad things will happen with negligence. Just bad. See photos. I just wish she had turned me away, and not screwed my hair up for God knows how long. GREAT!
