| - My old stopping grounds!
I used to come here after WAKA games when it was Road Runner and really like that they opened the place up more. A full open courtyard with larger tables and more space to play flip cup, hang by the fire and they added grass.
We were seated at a booth a little bit further inside and were greeted right away by Marissa. She was a great server. We picked a couple beers off the extensive list, put in an order of food and people watched. She was friendly, knowledgeable, she kept the refills coming, got our order correct and cleared our plates all in a timely manner.
We loved the beer selection and the food was good too. We ordered the chicken and waffle sliders, a burger, the fried pickles, potato skins and the buffalo chicken fingers. The sliders were so good! Mini waffle sandwiches with crunchy fried chicken, bacon because of course all topped with as much syrup as your heart desires. The fried pickles were also tasty. Crunchy batter on dill wedges instead of chips. The food all came out promptly with several servers bringing it at once, which I really appreciated. We also ordered the chocolate chip cookie skillet because we didn't feel fat enough. It was delicious. Warm cookie, ice cream and whip cream on top. Get it.
The only negative, which is a pretty big one, is that I noticed when we sat down a small girl under the age of 6 sitting alone in the booth next to us coloring. Our server tried to track down who she belonged to and offered her a water and it turned out she belonged to a woman gambling and drinking AT THE BAR. this woman had left her small child unattended at a booth so she could drink and gamble across the way. Horrible parenting but shame on PKWY for allowing this to happen. This woman knew the hostess because she came over to "check on" her daughter and made small talk with the hostess once she saw her daughter was ok. I don't know if she was a family member, manager or just a patron of this place, but to me this was completely unacceptable and I felt terrible for the child. A manager should have noticed and stepped in and if they did know about it and allowed it to happen, that is against the law.
