rev:text	My boys n I intentionally planned our date night at Havana Cafe. We unfortunately found out that the Phoenix location was closed.. yes we were 5 months behind but that did not stop us. We trekked out to the Scottsdale location. The ambiance appeared nice and all those there seemed to be happy. The waitress was attentive- at some point she appeared a bit over the top but it seemed like she was enjoying her job- I can't hate on that! My son's ordered the cubano(sandwich) with Inka Cola (golden cola champagne) without a doubt a great selection. I thought it was pricey at $16 however both ate every bit of it along with the fries & morros. My plate on the other hand was disappointing. I got the pricey San Juan $24 plate with a variety of Puertorican food-- figured there was lots to be shared. I would rate this plate alone as a 1.5 star as the portion & flavor were okay but nowhere near great. The rice was good..., the flavor of the pastel was decent but the texture was weird, not smooth. Either it was old or the masa was made in a food processor rather than the traditional manner. The pork was dry but flavorful- did not taste like the last time I had this in the Phoenix location. The tostones were okay & the alcapurrias were good. The two balls of mofongo was the primary reason I ordered this plate- blah... One was crumbling the other just was. The mojo sauce was delicious- we dipped almost everything in it. Overall the food was pricey but the live music made up for our expensive plates. I did not consider ordering the dessert based on my entree as well as the price... cheesecake $7.50?! Que, que?! No thanks... I will try it again- next time I'll bring a coupon, maybe order appetizers and enjoy more of the live music. The singer had skills..his signature ending waoooo was catchy.
