We had a mobile notary come to our house for the closing of our home refinance. We had had such a pleasant experience with the lender up until this point. This review is based solely upon our interaction with the notary and not the lender or the process of getting the loan. Robert showed up at our house to sign the documents. I appreciate that he called a day or two before and that he was on time. That was all great but here's what happened when he got there. We greeted him at the door and as soon as he walked in, he stopped and looked at our cat laying on the stairs across the room like he was in fear or something. He said he was "extremely allergic to cats" and asked how many we had and if we allow them on the furniture. Uh, not your business but whatever. I told him we have two and that we would be sitting at the kitchen table where the cats are not allowed. Our cat didn't even touch him or rub up against him! I understand if you have an allergy to cats but if it's as bad as he made it sound, send someone else! Or ask us if we have pets before you come and equip yourself with an allergy pill or something! It was very rude! We ended up putting one cat in the bathroom and one outside. He didn't stop us from doing that nor did he thank us. Here's the biggest kicker for me though, Robert obviously smokes. It was obvious by the smell that accompanied him. It was strong and it was worse when he talked. I'm pretty sure he had just finished smoking right when he pulled up to our house. What if I was allergic to cigarette smoke?? Hmmm. I was irritated to say the least. I said to him that I'm sure he has gone into houses with cats before. He said "most people have dogs." Uh ok, well I have a cat and I thought it was pretty rude to come into MY house and say something like that when he came smelling of cigarette smoke. He is in a business where he goes into people's homes all the time. It's rude and disrespectful to comment on how they live. So all in all, the papers got signed and it was fine. I wouldn't have used him if he wasn't sent by the lender because I thought he was rude and unprofessional.
