  • I called Healthy Home on the referral of a friend when I woke up and found that my furnace wasn't working. I left a message with an answering service and received a call back promptly from someone who was able to send a technician over that morning and said it would be $89 to diagnose the problem. The technician arrived on schedule and was very professional. He went into my crawl space, where the furnace is, and found that the condensate pump was not working. He disconnected the wires to the limit switch and the furnace kicked on right away. He went to his van to see if he had a pump - he didn't. He returned with a binder to try to sell me a maintenance plan. I declined and said I just want to replace the pump. He said he could get one today and replace it and it would cost $440! I told him that seemed pretty high. I asked if the pump was something I could pick up at Home Depot. He said no. Off he went to go get a pump. I came into the house and checked Home Depot online and found that they did sell condensate pumps, which were less than $100 - not the same model that I had, but I decided it wasn't worth it for the technician to go get one and install it for the price he quoted. I called him right away on his cell phone and told him I found them at Home Depot. I asked what's different between what he was going to install and what I could get at Home Depot. He said the quote he gave me was wrong because it included all of the tubing and that since that didn't need to be replaced, the correct quote was $300. I told him I wasn't interested and called the company back to ensure they got the message, too. After reading the reviews for the pumps they sold at Home Depot (not good), I went on Amazon and ordered the exact same pump for about $50 and easily replaced the bad pump myself in less than an hour, which included running new clear vinyl tube that I picked up at Home Depot for about $20 to replace the yellowed one - just in case there was a clog I couldn't see. Healthy Home's prompt, professional response is why I rate the company 2 stars instead of 1.
